This course is designed for students with the preexisting ability to speak some basic Mandarin. By focusing on using all four key aspects of the Mandarin language (listening, speaking, reading and writing), this course aims to equip students with the skills necessary to meet the communication needs for school and general social interactions, as well as a certain level of reading comprehension. This course mainly focuses on introducing the fundamentals of the Mandarin language, such as pronunciation, grammar, words and phrases, where a variety of different exercises in class help students to practice and gradually improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. A variety of resources and media such as storybooks and news excerpts are then used in addition to the textbook in each level to strengthen their speaking, listening, reading and writing capabilities for practical use in the real world.
